Pilates has been taking the world by storm over the last few years. People have started to see the real benefits of the exercise through proper results. For those that don’t know, Pilates is an exercise that combines strengthening with relaxation through different movements and stretches. Everyone can enjoy Pilates; from young fit athletes seeking to streamline their fitness regime to older individuals helping to maintain their fitness and flexibility.
Everyone is now doing Pilates! So many celebrities have said how useful Pilates is in their every day lives. Many of them have jam-packed schedules and Pilates is a great exercise that they can fit into their hectic daily routine. Jennifer Aniston loves the exercise and is a self proclaimed “Pilates Person!”
Many professional sportsmen and woman have starting bringing Pilates into their fitness regime to help improve their game. A couple of years ago Andy Murray started using Pilates to help recover from gruelling five set matches and to help solve his back problems, one year later he won Wimbledon! The Ulster rugby team has also started using Pilates as part of their strength and conditioning. Proving that people of both genders and all stages of fitness can benefit from it.
Pilates enables you to align your body and muscles while exercising. This helps strengthen your muscles and enables them to work more efficiently. Over time you will be able to see your muscles tone and sculpt into shape, helping you feel much stronger and more energized. This strengthening helps prevent injuries and you are much less likely to suffer from muscular aches and pains. The beauty of Pilates is that it works the whole body so no body part is neglected. From simply having a stronger healthier body, you will naturally boost your metabolism meaning that you burn more calories even when you are not exercising. Pilates also improves your flexibility and body shape, adding definition rather than just building muscle.
Of course Pilates isn’t just about improving your body image and becoming stronger. It is also great fun for everyone involved, all types of exercise improves how people feel. Pilates is great to release any stress that might exist within our very busy modern lives. It just happens to have the added benefit of improving your fitness!
